Facts about Siloam Springs
Siloam Springs was established in 1879 as a summer resort, using the
"medicinal quality" of the spring waters as draw.
The city's form of government is under a city-administrator form. A figure-head
mayor and a seven-member board of directors sets laws and ordinances while
a hired administrator carries out day-to-day operations.
The city is home to John
Brown University, a four-year Christian liberal arts college founded
in 1919. In 1994, it was recognized as one of the 10 best regional liberal
arts colleges by U.S. News and World Report.
The city's population in 1990 was a little over 8,100 and had grown to
nearly 9,300 by 1995, according to estimates.
