End of Season Report

Arkansas is losing 11 seniors, including 10 scholarship players, from the 1996 football team. Six played four positions. Gone are linebackers Mark Smith, Anthony Hicks and Vincent Bradford; offensive linemen Carlos Showers, Scott Rivers and Winston Alderson; running backs Oscar Malone and Jesse Cornelius; defensive back Philip Hayes; backup tight end Eddie Mosley; and walk-on Saint Nelson.

The Hogs are scheduled to return 15 starters (seven on offense, eight on defense) plus some key injured players who were not able to contribute this season. Nose guard Geno Bell and wide receiver Anthony Lucas are expected to receive medical hardships after playing in only the season opener. All-SEC tailback Madre Hill and tight end Al Heringer did not play at all this year and are expected to be ready for spring football. Fullback Tyrone Henry's medical status leaves his playing future uncertain.
