The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas is currently accepting applications for the following positions:


Advertising Sales Representative

A dedicated sales professionals is needed for our retail advertising department. The individual selected will be responsible for soliciting display advertising for The Morning News. Will have an assigned territory and be responsible for established accounts and developing new business. Must have the ability to create and maintain ongoing relationships with a wide range of businesses. Strong communication skills are essential. Previous selling experience is required with media experience and a college degree preferred.


Special Sections Editor

The individual selected for this position will plan, edit and lay out approximately eight special sections per year including arts and crafts, Chamber of Commerce and election preview section when applicable. Will also design and lay out three business sections per week, manage daily stock tables and lay out weekend editorial pages.

This position requires at least three years of journalism experience, including writing, editing and page design. Knowledge of Macintosh operating system and QuarkXPress and Adobe Photoshop software a plus.


Police Reporter

The police reporter is responsible for running daily police rounds in Springdale, Fayetteville and Washington County; responding to breaking news situations at night throughout the coverage area and developing feature stories and news articles based on law-enforcement issues.

Must have newspaper experience in either a professional or collegiate setting as well as familiarity with AP style and general newspaper writing standards. Daily newspaper experience is preferred. Writing on deadline is required.


Living Section Reporter / Copy Editor

The individual selected for this position will design and lay out Living section and education pages, re-write press releases, edit submitted copy, and develop and write feature stories. Qualified applicants will have experience at either a professional or college newspaper. Daily experience preferred. Must have basic knowledge of journalistic writing techniques and style and be familiar with AP style. Page layout and design experience required; knowledge of QuarkXPress a plus.
